Bio

From Hildegard von Bingen to Bach, Mendelssohn, and Bruckner... A journey into the world of German vocal music. This is a program sung a cappella, made of stems and roots, buds and thorns. It interweaves the medieval monodies of Hildegard von Bingen (12th century) with the polyphonic works of three great figures of German Baroque and Romantic music: Bach, Mendelssohn, and Bruckner. While Bach, Mendelssohn, and Bruckner glorify the psalms, those ancestral texts that speak to the root of human suffering and anxiety, Hildegard responds in advance with her visions so contemporary and filled with hope: her works of astonishing vitality, filled with an effervescent nature, bring the breath of a clear, vital, and luminous melodic line, which gives even more depth to the harmonies of the motets of the three Germanic masters, and which weaves the ?mysterious crown? evoked by Charles Peguy. A beautiful program, performed by the Ensemble O, composed of eight exceptional singers. A magnificent journey through which we encounter great masterpieces of German sacred vocal music.
