Bio
Cameron was first introduced to ?Love Me or Leave Me? by Band of Thieves through Eric Foss, who is the head of the Twin Cities based record label Secret Stash Records. Foss had sent Cameron a folder full of recordings from Minneapolis R&B and Soul artist from the 1960s and 70s, and when he dove in, ?Love Me or Leave Me? immediately grabbed his attention. After several listens, the song quickly became an all time favorite. The original version of the song was released by The Valdons, a Minneapolis R&B band, in 1971. Another version was released by Band of Thieves, another Minneapolis R&B band, in 1976. The lead singer of Band of Thieves, Napoleon Crayton (also a member of The Valdons as well as the Curtis Mayfield produced R&B group The Amazers in the 1960s), was a local superstar in the Twin Cities at the time. A few months after being introduced to the song Cameron shared the stage with The Valdons at an event recognizing the history of the Minneapolis sound. A few years later, once King Pari had formed, Cameron showed the song to Joe and told him that he had wanted to do a cover version of the song for quite some time. Joe was all about it and very quickly whipped up the instrumental, eventually adding the proverbial glockenspiel icing on the cake.
