L'Escadron Volant de la Reine

L'Escadron Volant de la Reine

The Escadron Volant de la Reine, the Queen?s Flying Squadron refers to the ladies-in-waiting recruited by Catherine de Medicis. They were charged with the task of pacifying human relations with various European courts by the means of conversation and by their very presence. This un-hierarchical formation embodied both precision and fantasy, qualities the ensemble?s musician lovingly apply to their musical endeavors. Created by Antoine Touche, l?Escadron Volant de la Reine gathers together young professional musicians, fond of Baroque music. All former students from European superior conservatoires, they are linked by a deep friendship and it?s very naturally that they came together in January 2012. The ensemble performed in various festivals : un Automne a Limur (Vannes), Festival de Paques (Deauville), les Jeudis Musicaux de la Chapelle Royale (Versailles), Festival de Ribeauville, Amuz (Anvers). L?Escadron Volant de la Reine won the firste prize and the audience prize at the first international early music competition in Loire Valley 2015 (France, presided by William Christie). They also are laureates of Anvers International Young Artists Presentation 2013 (Belgium). L?Escadron is in residence at the Singer-Polignac fondation since 2012. www.escadronvolant.com
