Hiraeth

Matt Baggiani?s debut EP for NOREMIXES, Hiraeth, is born from a sense of awareness, the feeling of a stranger in a strange land, missing the time and space where a human feels they belong. With an approach toward the creative process as a means for the mind to travel into uncharted space; Hiraeth can be thought of as unfinished inventories of sonic fragments and compositional endeavors. Italian born, Los Angeles resident, Matt Baggiani is a published composer, sound designer and music producer with a stream of original works for well known brands, television and commercials. In addition to his studio work, he has been dazzling crowds with his live performances at festivals around the world and clubs ranging from Colorado?s Red Rocks to Los Angeles? Low End Theory (rip). Baggiani?s approach with Hiraeth is that of a director, ?placing the listener in the role of the lead actor: projecting himself into remote stages and deploying sensor arrays to collect ambient activity and re-contextualize these events as natural reflections of the human desire for beauty and seduction, while being aware of death and solitude,? he recounts. We believe that Hiraeth is a glimpse of a composer at the peak of his creativity.
