Bio
The electro-pop gem of Madagascar !
Seheno was born in Madagascar, the Indian Ocean?s Red Island. A country where music and nature are part of everyday?s life.
She hails from a family of renowned Malagasy pop musicians. Her music is the fruit of her native roots at the crossroads of Africa & Indian Ocean combined with her nomadic and non-conformist temperament.
?Hazo Kely? (little wood) is her second album after ?Ka? (2008), which was selected as ?coup de coeur? by RFI (Radio France International) and took her to one of french major festivals ?Dom Tom Folies at Francofolies de la Rochelle? where she represented Madagascar. The album ?Ka? was highly acclaimed by French medias (Marianne, Jeune Afrique, Liberation, Feminin Bio...) for its innovative music as well as its unique packaging matching Seheno?s commitment to environmental causes (first malagasy album made with eco-friendly material).
Her 9 new tracks highlight her maverick and eclectic personality. The album incorporates elements of traditional Malagasy, electronic music, blues and pop. Organic and hybrid sound textures mingle with her sensuous voice that renders Malagasy and English lyrics with a unique style. While the opening track ?Monsoonia? sets the melancholy of a break-up during monsoon season, the song ?Hazo Kely? celebrates brotherhood featuring the sparkling guitar of Malagasy icon D?Gary.
As a frequent traveller to Madagascar, Europe and India, nature and our mutating world have a strong impact on Seheno?s songs. Through them one can hear the tales and cries of mother earth and the whispers of men?s heart.
?Hazo Kely? was produced by Seheno in collaboration with the Indo-French tabla virtuoso Prabhu Edouard. It was recorded in Paris and Antananarivo, mixed & mastered in UK by Marco Migliari at Green Room, Real World Studios.
Hazo Kely?s packaging is made of 100% recycled cardboard and the CD is made with certified recycled polycarbonate.
