Behind Silly Boy Blue, there is Ana Benabdelkarim, a young Nantaise now based in Paris.
After 19 years as a singer, keyboardist and bassist, she is devoted to writing her own songs. A room,
a computer and a sound card, a guitar, some synths - just enough to set melancholy music, doubts, passions: Ana becomes Silly Boy Blue.
Behind Silly Boy Blue, there is a fascination for the glam rock icons and the new-wave darkness of the
80s. There is, of course, a tribute to the beginnings of David Bowie, his wanderings pre-Ziggy
Stardust, the male character / feminine that he began to become.
Behind Silly Boy Blue, there is a personal writing thought of as an outlet. An alter ego to dare to say, dare to be and dare to come out of the boxes.
Behind Silly Boy Blue, there are meetings. On her debut EP But You Will, there are four tracks. Just
enough to glimpse the many faces of an artist whose emotions are expressed by melodies and
instrumental styles. From the piano to the electric guitar, through the purely electronic productions
and Ana?s flighty vocal, the EP?s identity is at the crossroads of genres, representative of the intimate
questions of an era.
Behind Silly Boy Blue, there is a personal, affirmed, sometimes urgent, songwriting that appropriately
addresses the post-adolescent era, its torments and desires. When "Cecilia" and her heady twilight
piano portrays an unfinished love story, "Lea's Birthday"becomes a kaleidoscope of memories, "The
Fight" a punch in her belly and "You're Cool"words that do not have not been able to be pronounced in time.
After several dates in 2017 including Pitchfork Avant Garde, Bars in Trans and Inrocks Festival,
Silly Boy Blue continues its journey, now ready to assert itself in front of the public eye.
