Bio
Somewhere among the daydreamers and heartbreakers, beauty queens and jock teens, Trudy and the Romance are looking to lure you into their suitably skewed, cinematic world. Trudy and the Romance is born from Chesterfield?s Oliver Taylor; bringing us ?Mutant 50?s pop? - a self-described style of 21st century Doo-Wop Rock & Roll.
To call Trudy escapism would be too easy. As with any great pop music, location falls into irrelevance. Whilst most bands dream of a world they can leave behind, Trudy is the sound of a band with their eyes-wide and keeping every option open. Signing with B3SCI Records led to the release of the EP "Junkyard Jazz", featuring the popular ballad ?Is There a Place I Can Go?. Debut album "Sandman" brought listeners into the world of Little Johnny, with a coming-of-age concept of first and lost love; a myriad of instrumental sounds and harmonies, influenced by The Beach Boys? Pet Sounds and Disney film scores.
Trudy and the Romance have returned with a new sonic direction; creating an energetic yet lovelorn take on Americana and romantic Country.
As Taylor explains about the LP and focus single:
"Blue Thunder set out to cross genres with production elegance; no judgement, no barriers holding it back. A new, open road in the direction of country and Americana. It holds recollections of the recent past and newfound truths of the present, signalling the next era of my life. Excellent collaborators contributed to this album - I hope you will enjoy the storytelling we?ve created. With Break a Rock, I believed that as long as there was adventure, it was worthwhile. Heart on sleeve, illusion of strength; I was asking to be kicked around. It was only when the cracks began to show, could the happiness begin to creep in. I didn?t know you could break a rock.?
